NICOLE O'MEARA EDITING

copywriter + Proofreader {+ coming soon: indexer}

Congratulations! You put your words on a page. You may have even run your project past a Substantive or Developmental Editor. You’re ready to share your God-given message with the world. It’s the best it can be… almost.

The next step is a Proofread and/or a Copyedit (also called a Line Edit) of your project. Copyediting may be done during Developmental Editing, but not necessarily. Proofreading is the final “spit polish” step that will make your piece shine. This is also the step I love most.

Proofreading and Line Editing are like puzzles. Every puzzle has a solution; the fun is in finding it. I love finding the solutions to convoluted sentences that are stuck in the mire of misplaced commas and missing hyphens. The Word Nerd in me delights in finding words that maybe don’t fit the way you, the author, intend and giving you several options for stronger words.

Will you and I make a good team? Let’s find out.

WHAT I EDIT

I edit clean (PG-rated) manuscripts of:

  • books;

  • blogposts;

  • articles;

  • devotions;

  • seminary papers;

  • sermons and more.

Does this describe your project? Contact me to tell me more about your project.

FREE EDIT

After we connect, I will do a free sample edit (approximately 300 words) so you can see a sample of my work. A sample edit also gives you and me an opportunity to find out if we make a good team.

Words matter. Let’s make yours the best they can be.

Indexing - TBD

After a manuscript has been edited, I will analyze the content to determine what information is likely to be most useful to the reader. I will create an index—an alphabetical list of references to important terms and concepts in the text.
